In order to be eligible to run for an elected office in the Town of Smyrna, applicants must meet:

• Be 21 years of age or older
• Be a resident of the Town of Smyrna for at least one year prior to the election
• Be a qualified to vote at the town election , which additionally requires a candidate to be a U.S. citizen, never have been adjudged a mentally incompetent person by a court of competent jurisdiction, and never have been disenfranchised pursuant to the Delaware Constitution

Additionally, candidates for representative district council seat must have resided in the district for at least one year.

Filing Deadlines & Applications
The deadline to file for office is Monday, June 3, 2013, at 4:30 PM.

You may download the 2013 Special Election Application for Office or pick up a copy at Town Hall. Completed applications will be accepted by mail, fax, or in the Business Office at Town Hall.
