The Town of Smyrna is offering eligible citizens 65 years old and over exemption from the first $30,000 of property tax assessment provided that their 2008 calendar year income from all sources except Social Security and Railroad Pension did not exceed $24,000 for an individual applicant or $30,000 for applicants filing jointly and that said applicants live in said dwelling for which the exemption is claimed consecutively for at least one (1) year immediately prior to May 1, 2009. Applicants must provide proof of age and income.

Applications for exemption may be downloaded or obtained from Town Hall, 27 South Market Street Plaza.

Completed applications must be returned to the Town Hall by March 20, 2009. Applications will be acted upon by the Appeal Board which will be in session on Monday, April 6, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
