The Smyrna Police Department is committed to preserving the welfare and safety of the residents of Smyrna. The department is a full-service agency that is equipped with the newest in law enforcement technology, including:
  • Electronic finger-printing
  • Mug shot capabilities
  • Mobile data terminals in patrol cars
  • Electronic arrest and reporting functions
  • State-of-the-art 800 MHz radio system with statewide communication capability

Services & Staff

The Smyrna Police Department is ready to serve the community with a contingent of 23 sworn officers and seven civilian employees, as well as 24-hour emergency police dispatching. In order to deal with specialized law enforcement situations, the department has several highly trained units, such as:
  • Bicycle Patrol Unit
  • Community Policing Officer 
  • GREAT officers
  • School resource officers (SRO's)
  • Special Investigations Unit (SIU) - including the Quality of Life Unit and Criminal Investigators
  • STAR (tactical) Team
  • TAC - Motorcycle Patrol Unit
