The Smyrna Police Department is committed to preserving the welfare and safety of the residents of Smyrna. The department is a full-service agency that is equipped with the newest in law enforcement technology, including:
- Electronic finger-printing
- Mug shot capabilities
- Mobile data terminals in patrol cars
- Electronic arrest and reporting functions
- State-of-the-art 800 MHz radio system with statewide communication capability
Services and Staff
The Smyrna Police Department is ready to serve the community with a contingent of 22 sworn officers and seven civilian employees, as well as 24-hour emergency police dispatching. In order to deal with specialized law enforcement situations, the department has several highly trained units, such as:
- K-9 unit
- SRO's - School Resource Officer's
- DARE Officer
- SIU - Special Investigations Unit (including Quality of Life Unit and Criminal Investigators)
- STAR (tactical) Team
- TAC - Motorcycle Patrol Unit
- Bicycle Patrol Unit
