Weekend Winter Snowstorm Advisory
The Town is monitoring the weekend winter weather forecast, which includes very cold temperatures and heavy snowfall of an estimated 10-12 inches.
To support public safety and snow removal operations, residents are asked to:
- Do not park on emergency snow routes, roadways, or No Parking Zones, as this restricts snow removal. See emergency snow route map below.
- Avoid travel and stay off the roads if possible
- Do not push or shovel snow into roadways
- Keep snow clear of home vent pipes and exhaust vents
- Make arrangements in advance to stay in a location with reliable power if you depend on electricity for medical needs, in the event of outages
- Check on neighbors, particularly those who may need assistance during extreme cold
- For weather related utility issues, please use the town's new hotline:Call: 302-471-3000 | Email: WeatherOutages@smyrna.delaware.govPlease call 911 for true emergencies only. Emergency lines should remain available for urgent situations.
Public Works crews will be working throughout the storm to keep main roads and emergency routes open. Please be patient during snow removal efforts, as poor road conditions are expected during the storm and post-storm cleanup may take a significant amount of time.
Further information will be shared to support residents ahead of the storm. For additional updates, please visit the Town’s website and official Facebook and Instagram pages.
